Localcoin Privacy Policy (Integrated AI & Voice Update)

1. We are committed to your privacy. At Localcoin (9992987 Canada Inc. o/a Localcoin) (“Localcoin”, “we” or “us”), our mission is to provide a simple experience for buying and selling digital currency while upholding privacy standards across North America and international jurisdictions. We are committed to protecting the personal information (“PI”) you entrust to us, including data processed by our automated systems and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
2. Scope and Jurisdiction. This Policy applies to our operations in Canada and relevant international jurisdictions. We comply with applicable privacy laws (including PIPEDA in Canada and GDPR where applicable).
- AI Support: This Policy specifically covers your interactions with "Jarvis," our AI-powered support bot.
3. The PI we may collect from you. We only collect the PI that we determine we need for the identified purposes in Section 4. We may collect your:
- Contact & ID: Name, telephone, address, email, and Identification Documents (Driver’s License/Passport).
- Communications & Voice Data: When you interact with Jarvis, we collect your voice audio, transcriptions, and any information provided for quality assurance purposes.
- Biometric Information: For real-time voice synthesis and support, our third-party AI processors analyze voice characteristics. We do not use this data for biometric authentication or identification.
- Technical Data: Photographs (ATM/Selfie), Occupation (KYC), Transaction history, Location Information, and Device/Website usage info.
4. The purpose for which we collect, use, and disclose your PI. We use your PI to:
- AI-Driven Support: Provide real-time automated assistance through Jarvis.
- Operations: Manage ATM access, verify identity (KYC), and process transactions.
- Security: Protect against fraud, investigate claims, and comply with legal/regulatory requirements.
5. Consent and AI Disclosure. By initiating services at a Localcoin ATM, online, or interacting with our AI customer support service bots, you provide consent for us to collect and use your PI.
- Informed Consent for AI: By continuing a call with our AI voice tool after the initial disclosure, you agree to the real-time processing of your voice data.
- Right to a Human: You have the right to opt-out of AI processing. You may request to be transferred to a human representative or contact us via email if you do not wish to use the AI service.
- The AI bot is intended to assist with customer service inquiries only. It is not intended to make final decisions about your account, identity verification, transaction eligibility, complaints, or legal rights.
6. We may share your PI for limited purposes. We may share PI with affiliates and third-party service providers (such as ElevenLabs, our voice AI support bot) who are bound by contracts to protect your data.
- Privacy Impact Assessments: Before transferring personal information outside Québec or Canada, we assess privacy-related factors as required by applicable law and use contractual, organizational, and technical safeguards designed to protect the information.
- International Transfers: These providers may process data outside of Canada. We utilize Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data receives protection equivalent to your home jurisdiction.
7. Data Retention and "Zero Retention" Processing.
- Standard Retention: We retain PI for as long as reasonably necessary for legal or business purposes.
- AI Zero Retention: For interactions with our voice AI tool, we utilize Zero Retention Mode in Elevenlabs. Audio and transcriptions are processed in real-time and deleted immediately upon the conclusion of the session. In Elevenlabs, this data is not stored permanently and is not used to train global AI models. Calls are recorded and saved in a separate database.
8. Accuracy. We are committed to maintaining accurate PI. You are responsible for informing us of changes.
9. Security Safeguards. We use physical, organizational, and technological safeguards to protect your PI. Our employees and third-party providers are held to strict confidentiality standards.
10. Access Requests. Requests to access or verify your PI must be made in writing. You also have the right to contest any decision made solely by an automated system; if Jarvis cannot resolve your issue, you may request a human review.
11. Tracking Tools and Cookies. We use session, persistent, and third-party cookies, as well as pixel tags, to understand website usage and deliver tailored advertising. You may opt-out of cookies via your browser settings or through AdChoices.
12. Third-party links. Our website may contain links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party websites.
